Bicheno Top 10

1 day in Bicheno

7:30 AM: Whaler’s Lookout

Rise and shine! Hike up the short (10 minute), steep trail of Whaler’s Lookout to enjoy 270 degree views of Bicheno.

8:30 AM: Breakfast at Little Bay Patisserie

Hike done: time to indulge! Enjoy artisanal croissants and pastries at Little Bay Patisserie while watching the world go by. Don’t delay: It’s not unusual for Little Bay to sell out before 10am during peak season!

9:30 AM: Foreshore Trail Walk

Ready to go again? Begin at Peggy’s Point and stroll in a southerly direction along Bicheno’s scenic foreshore. Walk along the coastal path and rocky foreshore past The Gulch, Bicheno’s natural harbour and place of significant local history. (Side trip: here you may elect to pause this itinerary and add a visit to Undersong Perfumery, Waubs Harbour Distillery or Bicheno Glass Bottom Boat).

10:30 AM: Visit the Bicheno Blowhole

Continue your walk to the blowhole, a sea cave carved into the granite rocks where water erupts from the rocky coastline. Capture some photos (don’t get wet!), and enjoy the fresh sea air.

12:00 PM: Lunch at Lobster Shack Tasmania

Double back, retrace your steps in a northerly direction and relax with an ocean-to-plate lunch at Lobster Shack Tasmania featuring fresh southern rock lobster, a famous lobster roll or a Tasmanian seafood platter. Take a seat on the deck to spot Australian fur seals on Alligator Rock. During Winter and Spring you may even see a migrating whale

2:00 PM: East Coast Natureworld

Drive 10 minutes north of Bicheno and enjoy a private “Ultimate Tour” at East Coast Natureworld. Enjoy exclusive keeper-led experiences with Tasmanian devils, wombats, and other Australian wildlife in this conservation-focused wildlife park.

4:00 PM: Wine Tasting at The Farm Shed

Wine time? If you only have one day, you won’t have time to visit all the local wineries and cellar doors but you can sample ALL of the local east coast wines in one place at The Farm Shed East Coast Wine Centre. Enjoy a curated selection of the region’s best wines, whisky, and gin. Look out for local wines: Maclean Bay and Apsley Gorge.

6:00 PM: Dinner at Le Coq

Wrap up the day with a French-inspired meal at Le Coq Bicheno. Enjoy dishes created from local ingredients while soaking in the cosy ambiance. Don’t forget to book in advance. If you prefer something more casual, you can’t beat a burger and Bicheno Beer Co brew at Governors.

8:00 PM: Penguin tour with Bicheno Penguin Tours

End the evening with a penguin viewing experience like no other. Bicheno Penguin Tours offers an intimate and eco-friendly way to observe penguins in their natural habitat. What a way to end your one-day itinerary!
